Real Life Houses Playing Starring Roles in Movie and TV Nightmares!

Why does our mind play these fun little games with us – and usually when we are alone or trying to sleep!? Well, for me, I believe it is all of those glorious horror movies I watched growing up! Especially when a major contributor of the creep factor was the spooky house that the movie monster was running amok in. Every intricate staircase just waiting for that mystery hand to reach through, every home with windows that seemed like eyes staring out at you (yeah, you know the one), that closet that was a portal to another dimension, or when that mystery ball bounces down the stairs into the basement - that has you yelling at the fictional person on the screen, “WHAT?? ARE YOU CRAZY!? DON’T GO DOWN THERE YOU FOOL!”. These realistic home settings grab ahold of our imaginations and pull us in with the actors and give us that adrenaline jolt we crave.

Let’s take a few moments to stroll through the architecture of some real-life houses that play starring roles in our movie and tv nightmares.

Autumn’s Design Inspiration: Taking design cues from Mother Nature

Posted by Shana Cooper & Phil Goodlove on Nov 24, 2020 11:02:46 AM

Cool crisp winds rustling through colorful rich gold, auburn, plum and burgundy leaves. Deep textures of tree bark, ferns and moss-covered stones in the forest. Harvest festivals filled with charismatic pumpkins, straw bales, warm ciders, caramel apples and face painting booths. Crackling campfires, toasted marshmallows and homecoming games. These are just a few of the MANY reasons that Fall is my favorite season! I don’t care if you want to call it Autumn or Fall, all of the warm colors and textures of this season never fail to bring a smile to my face and a warmth to my heart. It would be great to have this feeling year-round right? So why not bring these elements into our home designs? Exterior material and finish selections are a great way to do just that!

Window Wisdom Intro Post

Posted by Andrea White on Nov 18, 2020 9:07:15 AM

Hello Design Community! I’m Andrea White, with Sierra Pacific Windows, and I’m excited to share this news with you. I work with our team of more than 20 Architectural Consultants, here to help bring our expertise in windows and doors to you, with a goal of saving you time and energy. I started with Sierra Pacific almost 16 years ago, as an Architectural Consultant, and then wore a couple of different hats (that phrase would work better for me if it was shoes instead of hats 😊) before landing in my current role as Director of Architectural Sales. That was almost five years ago, and yes, time does fly when you’re having fun! Even this year, we’ve managed to smile behind our masks, laugh on our webcams, and virtually collaborate, to keep our team positive and optimistic while we embrace the current state of our business model. You see, we are a group of people that thrive on in-person visits, dynamic presentations, and hearing first hand from you what is happening in your professional world. And with the relationships our team has built with so many of you, frankly, we miss you!
